Sunday Confidence >> Sopelana

Domingo.

Sundays. There is nothing like a short car drive with a friend to the coast, it's the best way to shake off the seedy feeling after a very late saturday. The cool breeze helps clear my head, there is a promise of spring in the air. There is something very special about these moments, no matter how much time goes by, where we live or how much we have changed, I always return to this place, and always with good friends.
The inmensity of the ocean, the dramatic cliffs of our coast, the soft rays of the afternoon sun, it all sets the perfect atmosphere to confide in a friend, to listen, or simply to be quiet and enjoy the view. It makes me feel a little bit more free.

I am wearing a blanket, it really is a blanket, it was a gift which my mum altered and can now be worn as a poncho. It was definitely a good idea, I think that a Marithé François Girbaud blanket can get much more use as a poncho rather than just laying on the couch. And all the rest of what I am wearing you have seen in the last posts (ehem, boring...), especially the bag, just ignore it, it has appeared in so many photos it's not even funny. But sometimes lazy Sundays call for a comfy outfit, an outfit in which I can feel myself.

Poncho: Marithé François Girbaud // Bolso/Bag: Sandro // Zapatos/Shoes: Unisa // Vaqueros/Jeans: Gap // Gafas/Sunnies: on loan from friend // Cinturón/Belt: Vintage

-> Last minute news!!! I made it to the chictopia style galtery and to today´s front page!!! But it gets even better! I'm today's Editor's Pick!!! :)
This is all thanks to my friend Ana, she is the one behind the camera in my best photos. Gracias!!

Kölle Alaaf! >> Carnival in Cologne

Remember I told you I had big plans for the weekend? Well those big plans were a trip to Germany to spend carnival in Cologne. Now I tell you I have never seen carnivals as festive as these, although we do celebrate carnival in Spain. But in Cologne it was a different level. The whole city was celebrating, people wore their fancy dresses, many of which were very elaborate, since the morning and all around there was music and people singing carnival songs. The parties at night were not bad either... :) I went as an Indian on the first day. That this is the best photo I have of myself during that day, so you can imagine I was much more concentrated in having fun that in documenting the event!

On Monday the Rosenmontagszug took place, it's a big parade all over the city which lasts for about five or six hours. During this time there are music, dancers and carriages full of people wearing their costumes and throwing chocolate and flowers at the crowd. But don't think they just threw a few sweets here and there, not, I am talking about chocolate bars, boxes of pralines, snickers... I tell you, these people take their carnivals very seriously! And I went as Little Red Riding Hood, on the picture below I was having an early coffee, much needed considering the celebration went on until late that night!

Dinner (not) date.

Hi there! You might wonder what this dinner not date thing means, and you might even be more surprised to know that I did in fact wear this outfit to a "date" yesterday. But before you say: "this girl is crazy, this must be the most casual outfit I have seen on her blog, and she wears this on a date night?", there are a few things that I need to explain.

So, where to I start... yes, I'll explain my situation briefly. If you have been visiting my blog since January, you must have realized that my life has changed a bit, I don't live in Barcelona anymore, I have been through a complicated time emotionally, I have also changed my job and I (temporarily) live at my parent's place. (Yes, pity me, this is probably the worst.)
Ok, so I have been trying to adapt to my new life in Bilbao, and I don't really know how I got involved in this weird situation which led to a date with a boy this friday night. I had no intention whatsoever in spending a romantic evening with him, so when I thought: What should I wear? I immediately ruled out cute dresses, high heels, even lipstick... But I couldn't just wear yoga pants and dirty hair, so I had to do something in between.
It was clear to me that I should wear jeans. There is nothing that says : "I couldn't be bothered to get dressed today" like jeans. Then I had to choose a top, no v-neck and no naked shoulders, that was obvious, so this cute jersey I got in Mango ( yes, those cashmere ones they have, I bought one on sale and it's the perfect basic!) would do the trick. High heels were not an option, so these cute ballerina flats would be just fine. A scarf matching scarf and my Sandro bag, which I am wearing so much, it's worth every penny I spent on it. Outfit: check!
Makeup would be simple too, no eye shadow nor lipstick, a dash of mascara and I was ready, which is pretty much my daily beauty ritual. And finally my weak point, hair. You must have noticed I am not very creative with it, (see the squirrel's nest here), so I opted to just wash it and leave it to dry naturally. It's funny how I say this as if it wasn't what I do every day...

And that's all, ¿what do you think? ¿Have you ever been on a similar situation? It's the first time I go on a date, it's not a very normal thing among people I know, and I always wondered what it was like when watching SATC or other american TV shows. Oh life! To think that I was the first to get all dolled up when I went out to dinner, and now I put on a pair of comfy jeans and I'm done! I am so not ready to be single yet!
