When nothing works

Some weeks are horrible, nothing is meant to be, no matter how hard you try, it just won't happen. It leaves me feeling hopeless and bitter and sick of it all. This week or rather past couple of weeks have been just like that. The usual, two straight weeks in Bilbao and I can feel despair creeping in. But rather than staying home obsessing about it, I'm going to sit in the beach and read. It will be far more productive!

Besos!!

Excuse the super ugly pictures taken with my still broken tripod in front of the super ugly back door of my house. I swore I would never take pictures there again, but as I told you, nothing has been working according to plan lately. Still I hope you like the dress which is an amazing vintage find from Lotta Vintage in Madrid! Got to run if I still want to catch some sun! Besos!!

There is a Spanish saying that goes : "La primavera la sangre altera", which translated would be something like : Spring alters the blood, and I think it really does! We smile more, we become more talkative, we dress more lightly, and even the boy's compliments sound better! And we sure did get nice compliments last Sunday, although not the one I got from a guy that told me he had some spare tickets for a tanning bed salon, that was just mean. But funny in a way, I guess...
Everybody is out and about (sometimes I wonder where these people are hiding during the rest of the year) and so were my friend Isa and me, all over Madrid on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Late brunch was followed by a walk around Plaza de Oriente and an hour or so of lying in the sun and then walking over to La Latina for some serious people watching fun! For the perfect sunny day I put on the perfect summer dress. And my new pair of sandals which gave me an also new pair of blisters on my heels, ouch! Oh well, nothing can be too perfect! :)

Spot the difference >> Malasaña

¡Hola!

Hey people! How have you been? No, I'm not dead, but I hadn't gotten round to posting this month yet. These pictures are from this past weekend, I went to Madrid again. I don't know what I would do if Bilbao didn't have an airport, because I can't stand staying here for more than two weekends in a row. And there is so much to do in Madrid!I tell you, I'm falling in love with this city!
By the way, do you notice any differences between  the two top photos and the two at the bottom? None?? Look closer... Nothing? Well yes, there is a difference, I went to the hairdresser's and got a haircut!!! No, I can't notice the difference  either...

Work appropriate >> Parque de Doña Casilda

I live quite close to my job now, just a 20 minute bike ride away. It's a huge improvement, considering I spent almost three hours every day getting to work by bus and metro in my previous job in Barcelona. Now I cycle almost everywhere, it even makes going to work a little nicer. I know Those 20 minutes every morning are just for me, to think, make plans, enjoy the fresh air and the views of the sea. But (there is always a but) riding a bike, you can't just wear anything to work. Short skirts and dresses aren't the best choice, bulky coats can make you suffocate if you need to pedal harder, special care should be taken with tights (and I don't often succeed on that) and shoes should be comfortable enough. So having said all that, I think this outfit is perfect for a bike ride and perfect for work, don't you think?

With all the biking and my newfound love for pilates, I must have lost weight because my trousers were falling all day. These trousers are about five years old, I bought them when I lived in Vienna and at that time they were my size. No, that wasn't the healthiest year of my life, no sport, very unhealthy food and too much partying, ooops! Last year I pulled these out from the depths of my closet instead of buying a pair of "boyfriend jeans". But unfortunately, this year I will not be able to dress in Katie Holmes style any more :) Oh well, I'll have to either shrink them or put them in storage until they fit again!
By the way, count on the weather of Bilbao for the sun to hide the moment we took my camera out, sorry for the dark pictures!
