By the frozen river >> Angoustrine

Hola hola!

Hello people! How was Christmas? I hope you all enjoyed it very much. I am back from my holidays, I spent a few days in Milan and Lugano, it's a family tradition to travel this time of the year, I guess it's different from the way most people celebrate these holidays, but as the saying in spanish goes, each family is a whole world. (I hope the translation is right and I'm not too sure wether it exists in english already... if I'm wrong, sorry!)
These photos are from a few days ago, from the weekend before christmas. I spent it in France, I went to Andorra to ski, it was a long time since I had last gone and it was so much fun I can't wait to go back! Other weekend activities also included baking quiche, walks in small villages of the Pyrenees and warming up next to the chimney!

I also dedicated some time to take outfit pictures, I wanted to take advantage of the snow in the Pyrenees  and create a funny winter look with many layers. So off I went to find the perfect spot, but it was a very sunny day and the temperature had risen to 8 ºC and all the snow was melting away, all I could find was this place by the river, which actually made a nice place for the photos.

A grey and rainy Christmas

¡Feliz Navidad!

Merry Christmas! These are a few snapshots of my christmas holidays so far. It's been four days since I last saw a ray of sun, don't get me wrong, I'm really enjoying myself. I'm just wishing I could have a white christmas, instead of a grey, damp, foggy one...

The street wonderer >> Catedral de Barcelona

I do realize this might be a strange outfit, I might look like a crazy old woman, the type that have many cats and wear all their clothing in layers and layers (I had a great aunt like that...). Maybe wearing this shawl and cooky beret is a bit too much, and yes, I did get some stares from strangers, but I simply love these pieces and I love wearing them all together.

Well I have to keep it short today, I am leaving in a few minutes for a ski weekend (!!!) and I have to finish packing. I just wanted to say that I am really thankful for the comments and your visits here, and that blogging is being a really fun experience for me. So just one more photo of me, laughing because I was feeling watched by people walking by while taking pictures and I felt such a fool! Happy weekend everyone!!!!

So you might recognize this outfit from this post, I wanted to style a look inspired in Milan, for the Olsenboye City Girl Chictopia contest. I wasn't so happy with the pictures, the outfit was missing a little sparkle, so I gave it a try again this Saturday. The outfit was in need of some fun accessories, so I added the necklace, a clutch and a big bow, so what do you think? Better now?

I'll be spending a few days this Christmas in Milan, I have never been and I am so excited! I especially can't wait for the Christmas Concert at Teatro alla Scalla, when I knew I was going to Milan, the first thing I did was to check if there were any concerts at the opera during my holidays. Unluckily, the Christmas concert was fully booked, but I kept on checking the online store and eventually a few tickets appeared for sale!
It will be my first visit to Milan, so I can only guess how stylish people are there from a few blogs and street style pages. I expect formal, but incredibly chic, high heels and designer bags! I'm hoping to spend some time just people watching for inspiration! For the contest, I decided to create the look which I will wear for the Christmas Concert at the Scalla, my other Sandro dress (yes, I succumbed again...) with a few black accessories.

I don't know if you can tell, but I had my makeup done at a salon before taking the photos. I had never had my makeup done by others, I was curious, so since I had to get my eyebrows done, I asked for a makeup session too. I really enjoyed it, I got a few tips and I love the result, the makeup artist used pink shadow and painted my lips with beige matte lipstick. I was surprised at how long it took, normally it won't take me more than 15 minutes to get my makeup done and I was at the salon for more than an hour! It was great, I really recommend Le Salon if you live in Barcelona, but since I was out so late, I had to run to Ciutadella park before it was too dark for the pictures!

Bye Bye Barcelona >> Sagrada Familia

Well it's time to say goodbye. It's almost two years since I arrived, but life takes sudden turns and now I have to say goodbye to Barcelona. But this shouldn't be a sad moment, I should make the most of the days I have left here, meet up with friends, revisit my favourite places, check out others I have yet to see, and try to share all of it in this blog! What I call a proper goodbye.
Full of carpe diem spirit, let's go all out, live like there's no tomorrow (ok, Amaia, you're going a little crazy...) I set out to organize a long weekend, fun planned out for 5 days! Result: frustration. So I guess that what I have learnt is that there is no point in getting all stressed out, I have to relax and enjoy it all, because I get my share of stress at work already...
Finally I did get to do many things, like visiting Sagrada Familia, going to the concert of MIA (which was amazing, but too short), grocery shopping at Boquería market, not bad at all!!

The weather this past week has been incredibly nice for December, too nice even, this is why I'm not wearing a coat. About my outfit, I'm wearing my Sandro dress again, which needs to get into heavy rotation to justify the splurge, and my "minnetonka" boots. These were my worse purchase ever, one of those we all have made and regretted later. Said item is really in, you see it everywhere and you love it, you finally crack and you buy it, a few months later you are bored of seeing it everywhere, so it ends up buried in the depths of your closet. A complete disaster! But I decided to change the course of history for my boots, I have taken them out for a spin and intend to wear them more often from now on.
Have anice weekend people!!!

The Shopping Night >> Passeig de Gràcia

This past Thursday was "The Shopping Night"in Barcelona, and the shops in Passeig de Gràcia opened their doors from 8,00 p.m. to 12,00 p.m. so that we could look around their stores and enjoy an unique experience in the chicest street of Barcelona. Besides, it was also the first night that christmas lights were going to be lit, so there was no better excuse to go shopping!

The pictures I have are not too great, it was dark already and I didn't have much time to document it all, so they are not the best shots. The night, however, did turn out great, I was able to look around some very luxurious shops, which I wouldn't normally feel too comfortable entering, I said hello to the new collection of Celine handbags and an amazing pair of Louboutin shoes (sigh!), I was treated to two glasses of cava, also a cotton candy courtesy of TCN, the atmosphere was great, the street was full of stylish people, there was jazz music, exhibitions, lights, gifts...

A great experience, which leave me wishing for more, I wasn't able to stay until later on, there were a few parties organized by hotels at Passeig de Gràcia, which I bet were really cool! Anyways, hopefully next year we are in for a treat again, I won't miss it!

Oh! I almost forgot the outfit picture, well it was nothing too fancy, I'm wearing a Zara Kids (??!) cape, yes, strange, but I saw it and I loved it, and I thought, Why not? :) On the other pictures: Missoni David by dEMO, a Harley Davidson customized by Custo Barcelona and a jazz band.

So high >> Ciutadella

Meet my new babies! I'm so happy with these shoes, I wanted some really high (at least high for me, I'm more of a ballerina flat girl) but comfortable black pumps which I could wear on special occasions. After months of looking and looking I finally found them this weekend! They were perfect, except for one thing... yes, good quality shoes are expensive. But the moment I tried them on, I couldn't resist, they had to be mine!
This past weekend I also went out to take some photos for the Chictopia contest Olsenboye. I had the perfect location on my head and also a great outfit in mind, but somehow it didn't work out as I had planned. There was something missing in these photos, maybe the fact that the previous night had involved some serious partying didn't help, or maybe the outfit wasn't as good, but I decided not to use the photos and try this weekend again. Now I'm not really looking forward to it, it's gotten colder this week and the outfit is a sleeveless dress!
Oh! But you want to see the dress? OK, but just one photo... :)
